Degree Curriculum


This program prepares the student for entry into the field of police work and related occupations. Criminal justice vocations have evolved from jobs with minimal requirements to jobs requiring complex knowledge and skills. This curriculum gives the student theory, principles, and techniques employed by criminal justice agencies and police units. The study of the law as it relates to criminal justice agencies, human behavior, government, and communications along with specialized course work comprise the curriculum. Graduates from the AAS in Criminal Justice program may seek job opportunities on the federal, state, county, and municipal levels.


With experience, the CJ graduate may move into administrative or supervisory positions in corrections, security and/or law enforcement.

A student may select one of four options: 1) Criminal Justice, 2) Law Enforcement, 3) Corrections, or 4) Security and Loss Prevention. A student may complete the Criminal Justice Option by taking three criminal justice electives from courses in any option. A student may complete options 2), 3), or 4) by taking the required courses for the option plus two criminal justice electives from the option selected.
