Bill West, OCTC professor of history and executive director of Owensboro's Sister Cities program, was honored in June 2005 by Olomouc, Czech Republic -- Owensboro's sister city. West was one of eight people--and the only American--to receive Olomouc's City Award in the city's historic Hradisko Monastery. He was honored for his work with the Sister Cities program and for fostering the relationship between the two communities. The honorees were selected by members of Olomouc's 114-member city assembly.
