How to Change Your Password. As a student of Maysville Community and Technical College, you will periodically need to change your KCTCS user account password. The system will send you a request starting ten days before your password needs to be changed. For your security and privacy, it is important that you do not share your password with anyone. The college will never ask you for your password for any reason. From the Maysville Community and Technical College homepage, use your mouse to select the Email hyperlink as shown here. You will be directed to a new webpage that gives you access to your student email and password settings. Also notice that this webpage has many links that will be useful to you in addition to the logon to email link. If you have not used your KCTCS email account and need to activate it, you may do so by using your mouse to select the New Account Activation link. For assistance, please refer to the video on How to Activate Your KCTCS Email Account, which you can find by selecting the Current Students link on the College’s homepage, and then by clicking on the Student Tutorials link with your mouse. If you have lost or forgotten your password, or find that your account has been locked, you may reset your password by clicking on the Password Reset link with your mouse. For this video, we will demonstrate how to change your password. Use your mouse to select the Change Password link as shown here. You will be taken to a new page that requires you to provide some account information. As shown, the Domain field has been filled in for you, so you do not need to enter any information here, and you may continue to the next field. In the Account field, use your keyboard to enter your user name. In this case, we are entering Student0001. Next, use your keyboard to enter your current password in the Old Password field. If you have forgotten your current password, you will need to use the Reset Password link mentioned earlier in this video. Now enter a new password in the New Password field with your keyboard. Passwords must be at least eight characters in length, and it is best to choose a password that contains both letters and numbers. Create a password that would not be easily guessed by another person. For suggestions, you can use your mouse to select the link shown here for a description of a complex password. Enter the new password you have chosen again in the Confirm New Password field with your keyboard. Make sure to enter the new password in this field exactly the same as you did in the previous field. If you decide that you do not want to change your password at this time, you may select the Cancel button with your mouse, and no changes will be made to your password settings.  If you feel that you may have made a mistake entering your information in the required fields, you may select the Reset button with your mouse to clear all fields, and start the process again. Once you are ready to apply the changes you have made and confirm your new password, use your mouse to select the OK button. Once you have clicked the OK button you will be directed to a confirmation page. If you entered your current account information correctly and chose an acceptable new password, this page will display the message “Password successfully changed” and you may return to the KCTCS email page by using your mouse to click on the provided link. If you made a mistake or entered invalid information, this page would display the message “Error: Invalid username or password” and you will need to use your mouse to select the Back link shown here and repeat the steps to change your password. We hope that this video has been informative, and helpful to you as a student of Maysville Community and Technical College.
