Cover your mouth when you sneeze

 
Epidemiology is the study of disease related data from real-life situations. This requires:
• plotting the distribution of disease
• locating the source of an outbreak of disease
• gathering of vast amounts of information in all medical, veterinary, and sociology fields

Materials
• Test tubes filled with water (one for each person)
• One test tube filled with Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH)*
• Phenylthaline (an indicator)*
• Eye Dropper

 

Procedure

 
Step 1
One person receives the test tube with NaOH and Everyone else gets a test tube full of water solution.  
No one should know who has the test tube with NaOH
 
Step 2
Everyone will “sneeze” on someone else only when the leader says go (or when the leader sneezes). 
To sneeze on someone take a dropper full of solution from the test tube and put it into the other person's test tube.
Everyone should sneeze just once per urn and everyone should be sneezed on only once per turn.
 
Step 3
Keep track of who you sneezed on and who sneezed on you.
 

Step 4

This should be repeated at least 3 times.  5 times can spread the disease throughout a group of 25 participants.

Step 5

Add a drop of phenylthaline to each test tube.  Phenylthaline with turn bright pink when exposed to NaOH.  The test tubes that are "infected"  will turn bright pink.
