BLOOD
Staple your blood type to page 325
This lab is to allow you to become familiar with the variety of cells in the blood. You will have to look at various blood slides and identify the different types of blood cells. You will also be responsible for being able to distinguish the results of an ABO blood test and know what those results represent.
EXERCISE 37 Use a prepared blood slide.
On page 310 Draw each of the blood types asked for.
USE A BLOOD SLIDE NOT PICTURE IN THE BOOK OR ON THE WEBSITE
On page 311 Focus on a slide,
In Column 1 Number Observed --count off using slash marks how many of each type of white cell. Look in more than one field of view. You are not expected to count all of the cells on the slide
In column 2 Total---Total the slash marks from each box in column 1. At the bottom of the column total all of the white cells seen this is a TOTAL WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT
In column 3 Percent—Divide the number in column 2 by the TOTAL WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT this will give you a DIFFERENTIAL WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT
EXERCISE 39: Use a blood strip that I have given you for your Blood Type.
Staple your blood type strip to page 325
