Getting started with SUNRISE:

Step 1  Find your student ID number.  It is a nine digit number that begins with “001” and may be found on either your schedule or bill.

Step 2  If you are activating your account from an on-campus computer:
·         Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and enter your username as ow-student and your password as Activate1, then select “OK”
·         Select “New Users/Password Resets” 
If you are activating your account from an off-campus computer:
·         Go to SUNRISE at http://www.octc.kctcs.edu/sunrise and select “Activate your SUNRISE username and password”

Step 3  Enter your last name and your nine digit student ID

Step 4  Select “Sign In”.  Your name should then appear on the screen.  Select “yes” if it is correct.

Step 5  Print the page with your account information so you will have it for future reference.  If you do not have access to a printer, make sure you write down your username (example: jdoe0004) and your email address (example: jdoe0004@kctcs.edu).

Step 6  Set your password.  The password must be 8 characters long.  It must include uppercase (A-Z) and lowercase (a-z) characters and numbers (0-9) or symbols and cannot include your name.  If you are activating your account from on-campus computer, you will have to log off at this point (select “start” in the lower left corner and then “Log Off”) and log back in with your new username and password.

Step 7  Go to SUNRISE at http://www.octc.kctcs.edu/sunrise to access your student e-mail, student records (schedule, grades, account, & financial aid info), and course materials.  You will use the same username and password to log on to on-campus computers.

Accessing Your Student Records, Paying Your Bill, and Registering for Classes Via SUNRISE

·   Go to SUNRISE at http://www.octc.kctcs.edu/sunrise

·   Select “Access your student records, pay tuition, or register online (PeopleSoft)” Special info for Windows Vista users

·   Select “LOGIN HERE” on the upper left side of the page

·   Enter your SUNRISE User ID and Password

·   Select “Self Service” from the menu on the left side of the page

From this webpage, you can view:

Student Center - a single page summary of your records
Enrollment – enroll in classes, view class schedule
Finances – account balance, payments, financial aid
Personal Information – address, phone number, etc.
Academic Records – grades, advisor info
Degree Progress/Graduation – check progress toward a degree
Transfer Credit – credits accepted from other colleges
Admission – status of your application

Class offerings for future terms are subject to change.  When you are finished, close the browser to prevent others from accessing your information.
