Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC) offers a wide variety of academic and technical/occupational programs on all of its campuses, off-campus sites, and through online distance learning. Educational programs for which academic credit is awarded are delivered consistently at each campus and online following the policies of the institution and KCTCS. Program lengths model best practices and vary as to degree, diploma, or certificate. Program length is determined and approved through the program approval process at the local college and system levels. The examples of academic plans with corresponding transcripts illustrate how the curriculum supports program length requirements.
As reported in section 2.2 in the Institutional Summary Form, OCTC offers Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in Applied Science degree programs, as well as, diploma and certificate programs. As established by the KCTCS Board of Regents, associate degree programs are based on a minimum of 60 semester credit hours for Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees. The Associate in Applied Science degree programs range from 60 to 68 semester credit hours, except for those programs that require additional semester credit hours due to accreditation which requires approval by the Board of Regents. Diploma programs range from 36 to 60 semester credit hours. The requirements for program completion are consistent with Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education requirements and the KCTCS Board of Regents requirements.
